Rev. Matthew Foley, Director

Fr. Matt Foley is a Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of Chicago. After ordination, he served at St. Agatha Parish in Chicago for 6 years and then accepted in 1994 a special assignment to Mexico, as pastor of Santiago Apostol in Quechultenango, Guerrero where he began the El Niño Rey scholarship program in 1995 for the needy children in the 35 Sierra Madre Mountain villages of his parish. He returned to Chicago in 2000 and with the assistance of St. Norbert Parish parishioners began to offer dental and education trips to Guerrero. He was assigned that same year as Pastor of St Agnes of Bohemia Parish in Chicago all the while returning each year serving in the 2 annual dental missions. Fr. Matt has made 20 mission trips to Guerrero over those years. In 2009 he answered the needed call to serve as an Army Chaplain (82nd and 101st Airborne units) while maintaining an active role in offering direction to the Board on the continuing dental missions and scholarship funding of El Niño Rey. His service years took him to Afghanistan 4 times. He  returned to parish work in 2013 as Pastor at St. James Parish in Arlington, Heights, IL.

Maureen Brady, SC- Scholarship Committee

Maureen has a M.S.Ed., now retired, and taught Spanish for 37 years. She has been on 7 mission trips and registers in person and then maintains our El Niño Rey data base for the registered children receiving “scholarship” money  in our program. She has mentored Rosalba Rodriquez, a local participant of the ENR scholarship program, to assume more responsibility for the registration of the students each year.

John Gutbrod Treasurer   

John has been a parishioner at St. Norbert Parish for 11 years and made 5 El Niño Rey dental mission trips.  He found these experiences to be very profound. Married to his wife Barbara, he has a daughter Jennifer and son Michael who accompanied him to Mexico in 2006. With a degree in Marketing,  he has worked in advertising and media sales his entire career and is currently consulting  throughout the country with TV stations on their advertising and sales strategies. He performs the financial oversight of ENR for the Board.

Bill Gordon

Bill received his DDS from the University of Illinois at Chicago in May, 2014 and is honored to serve on the ENR Board. He has participated in 8 missions to Guerrero and looks forward to contributing further as a dentist. His wife Merissa has served on 3 missions.

Rev. Bob Heinz, Pastor, St. Norbert Parish, Northbrook, IL

Fr. Bob has made 3 dental mission trips to Mexico with El Niño Rey. Prior to this assignment, Fr. was Pastor at St. Alphonsus Liguori in Prospect Heights, IL.

Dr. Bill Holohan, DMT-Dental Mission TeamDHP- Dental Hygiene Program

Bill is a graduate of Xavier University and Loyola University School of Denistry. He has been a participant in El Niño Rey since 1991 serving on the Board of Directors and has traveled on seven dental mission trips. Bill and wife Sharon are the parents of four children. He is in private practice in Northbrook.

Dev Kennedy, ET- Esperanza Team

Dev serves on the St. Norbert Parish Council and is also on their School Advisory Board. He is a full time actor and can be seen on area stages, in training films, print ads, and on television commercials. He has made 3 mission trips to Guerrero, Mexico and feels privileged to serve on this Board.

Nancy McGovern, DMTD- Dental Mission Team Director / DTC- Dental Trip Coordinator / DHP- Dental Hygiene Program

Nancy has been a dental hygienist in private practice for over 30 years. She is the mother of three daughters, all of whom have been on the dental missions for El Niño Rey with her. She has been El Niño Rey’s Dental and Mission Trip Coordinator Director for 10 years and has joined 18 mission trips to Guerrero.

Jon Monroe

Jon is a software developer living in Libertyville, IL. He is active at St. Joseph Parish school. He and his wife Christine have each served on one mission trip to Guerrero. He speaks serviceable Spanish and is honored to serve on the El Niño Rey board.

Dick Murphy, President

Dick, a J.S.D., has been a litigator attorney for 30years. He has been a member of St. Norbert Parish for the past 30 years, been on three dental missions, one with his daughter Bridget. His wife Martha and he have 2 daughters.

Karen O’Malley, DTC- Trip Director

A parishioner of St. Norbert Parish since 1993, Karen and her husband Kevin have three sons, Ryan, David, and Dylan. Karen has worked in the field of Human Resources Management for over 20 years and was drawn to the El Niño Rey mission in 2008. While not bilingual, she has been on four trips and has served as trip coordinator on two. Her son Ryan joined the dental mission team in 2014.

Dr. Jim Orbon

Jim earned his undergraduate degree at Loyola University- Chicago, then remained to receive his DDS from their School of Dentistry in 1981. He continued his dental education earning a Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry at Dayton, Ohio’s Children Medical Center. He became a Diplomat of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is on the staff at Lake Forest Hospital and Loyola University. His wife Lorraine and he are parents of Jimmy, Kate, Beth, and Molly . Jim has participated in 13 dental missions several accompanied by Jimmy and Kate.

Jim Seeberg

Jim is now retired as Vice President, General Manager, Unisource-Chicago, a printing paper distribution company. Jim and his wife Margie are parents to six children and grandparents to nine grandchildren. They became members of St. Norbert in 1965. Jim has been on five dental trips, two with his daughter Delia. Served as President 2005-2011.
